It is with sorrow and regret that our beloved wine bar, SIP Malibu Grapes, was one of the many casualties of the recent fires in Malibu.  On Friday morning, raging fires raced through the area taking SIP and our neighbor Kristy’s Roadhouse Malibu completely out, burned to the ground.  We are grateful that no one was there and everyone is safe, although a lot of good wine met its fate in a manner it was not meant for.

Our entire staff, Lexi, Nori, Zack, Jae, Sara and Breanna, along with countless others are still in shock over this – it has been tough to deal with.  Many vineyards and wineries in the area are gone or damaged. The entire Malibu and surrounding communities have taken a hit unlike never before.

Having lived in the area for many years and knowing the community, I know Malibu will rebound and prosper again.  Just as importantly, the vegetation will grow back, houses will be rebuilt and the wonderful spirit of Malibu will again rein.  It will take some time, but the Malibu community is strong and resilient.  Malibu will come back!

And so will SIP!  We are exploring different options to rebuild and over the coming weeks will start to implement our recovery. We will make sure to keep you, our wonderful friends and supporters, aware of the progress.  For now, we must bring an end to the current fires and support friends and neighbors – there is a lot of hurting going on that will take time to get over. Let’s all do what we can to help each other.

I hope that everyone who this letter reaches Keeps the Faith.  Good times will return, step by step.

Wishing you all the best,

Ken Fasola
